C-GCTC (c/n 103) at the Farnborough Air Show on September 4, 1984. C-GCTC on it's absolutely final approach. The wind was blustery, and a sudden gust from the rear presented the pilot with a sudden drop in airspeed. He was already 'on the limit', making a dramatic steep STOL approach, and his luck ran out... Rate of descent can be judged from the blurred r/way lights, showing how much I was having to tilt the camera to keep the aircraft in frame. (Robin McInnes) | ||
The end of C-GCTC as the final, doomed approach reaches its conclusion. As far as I know all the crew escaped with nothing more than very minor injuries. I narrowly escaped being flattened by an errant nose-wheel! (Robin McInnes) |
